In my social media I post several blogs on what I discover as I answer the question of whether or not modern State of Israel is God’s purpose and fulfillment of prophecy. I did a podcast in which I addressed the current situation with Israel and why I dismiss it as a necessity for a fulfillment of prophecy in scripture.
Listen to “Israel Attacked, is this End Times Fulfillment?” on Spreaker.
Those believing in a futurist Pretribulation Rapture theory prescribe to the fact that God intended to return to Israel after the church has been fulfilled. The timeline is determined from Daniel chapter 9 in his vision of 70 weeks – 70 periods of 7 years. Since Jesus came in that time He did and did not seem to come for His own (John 1:11), many scholars took on a theory that after the 69th week the countdown cut off to leave a gap before the 70th week (or 7 years). This is called the church age. The idea leads to a Dispensation where God sets apart different demographics to focus on the other. The sign of this would be a fig tree revising of Israel as a nation. When Israel became stated as a modern nation in 1948 this set off a countdown to fulfill what Jesus stated in Matt 24 would happen IN THIS GENERATION.
The problem comes with interpreting what Jesus meant by THIS generation in Matt 24. Did he mean in THIS generation that they were in, or some future time. If you consider THIS to refer to the current generation at the time it was said, then the events considered would be the Roman wars against the Jews and them fleeing, the persecution of saints, the destruction of the temple in 70AD, and Jerusalem laid trodden in desolation left an abomination. If you consider THIS to mean when THAT generation comes in the future then you would ignore those previous events and revisit it sometime later after all the scenery and scenario is reconstructed and re-enacted again.
But why? Because that is what would be necessary to fulfill it again in the future after it has been laid out previously, but not regarded as that event. why would God need to reconstruct the scenario again? He doesn’t. But Dispensationalist theorists would require it to fit their system of futurist eschatology.
In a previous article I shared the background of this so-called scholar who set the world afire with his theory. My article is about the origin of Scofield’s influence. Scofield had a sketchy background, and furthermore no record exists making him a credible scholar. Yet his footnotes became the most popular in seminary teaching, which taught the modern day scholars and their congregations the necessity of Israel as a nation. many who adopt this theory do not get that on their own, which they claim. Somehow they absorbed the subjection of Scofield’s doctrine to claim it as the interpretation. It is no wonder when all our teachers have been influenced by the same playbook.
This theory, which Scofield had an agenda, makes the case that the fulfillment to Israel was yet to be finished. Jesus came, but was rejected and only a remnant came in to receive Him. Therefore since Israel is chosen, they get yet another chance. However, Israel was dispersed and Jerusalem laid trodden and desolate. That is until the nation would be revised. Since Scofield was privy to Zonist plans, he became the new cheerleader for Israel as a nation. Yet it was a Rothschild provoked political nation.
This passage supposedly satisfies the claim:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. [Gen 12:2-3]
The problem is that it isn’t talking about a necessity to make the tribe of Israel a political nation. Nor was this what the passage is about. Abraham became father of MANY nations. Nations is a term meaning people. He also was not a Jew. While the children of Jacob became the tribes of Israel, God already had in mind that those remnant of His chosen would come (olive branch) as well as those of Gentile ethnicity (wild branches grafted in).
Who are the children of Abraham?
[Gal 3:7,8] 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, [saying], In thee shall all nations be blessed.
[1Pe 2:9] But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Not speaking of a specific political State or revised land of the Rothschilds.
But what about Romans 11?
Many quote this as the concrete proof that Israel must become a nation and that God will save it. At least all who are in it. I read through Romans 11 again and can only say it is being taken out of context by those who want physical Israel to be the survivor. It doesn’t say that. Nor does it say that this State Israel will in a future dispensation be saved.
Scripture is clear that God doesn’t favor above all else the bloodlines whom He once chose. It is His will, not man.
11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. [John 1:11,12,13]
It also as says they are not all Israel who are of (or IN) Israel [Rom 9:6].
The Israel is the Israel of God that is blessed (Gal 6:16). Romans 11 is obvious talking about coming into the Israel of God for those who believe. It tells that the wild branches (the Gentiles) were grafted into the root, after the branches of the Olive tree were broke to make room of those who did not come in. And that both became partakers of the root. The hope assures some of the Olive tree could still come in until the fullness of the Gentiles have come in. The fullness is for all who come to Jesus Christ. This will complete Israel.
The separation between Jew and gentile has been broken down. Both have come as One new man.
14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, [that is], the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man [from] the two, [thus] making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. [Eph 2:14-18]
This is why I don’t believe modern day political State of Israel is the necessary fulfillment.
