Why I Am Still A Christian

We are in this world. The world is spiraling downhill fast. But unfortunately it doesn’t matter if you are a Christian or not you still are affected by the infection. The rain falls likewise on the just and the unjust.

So why am I a Christian?

It is a misconception that many ask wrong questions when denouncing God. Their premise is based on ignorance who God is and how He operates. They ask things like, “If God is good, why do bad things happen.” They call out God when they say, “Why do babies die?” They question Him and ask, “If there is a loving God why do people suffer.”

They question conditions assuming God controls everything and is obligated to save the world from ALL wrongdoing. If that were so there would be no consequence, no judgment, no solution, ultimately even NO DEATH. They are all results of the condition of human nature.

If God prevented evil, He would have to redirect our choices in His foresight every time we made a bad choice. He have to prevent us from allowing us to act in our own manner without consequence. That would CONTROL US to be robots. One would have to be controlled by God of independent actions to prevent their follow-through. Do you expect God to prevent your choices? Are you capable of preventing your own follow-through? Our choices can lead others to harm, whether sinful, hateful, or otherwise. Not all choose to follow the best standard offered from God.

What about preventing the harm others do? Then He would have to either control the bad choices of bad people who happen to make wrong choices, OR prevent the pain caused. How would He do that? By preventing the consequences. Ultimately He would have to prevent DEATH. That would lead to chaos as we would all be forever tormented by those who aren’t as nice.

The other problem is how we each independently view “good and evil.” what one justifies as allowed may hurt another. Therefore we each would measure our own actions as justified and righteous in our own eyes.

But that leads to the question why babies die. That is a consequence of many things, even faults in nature that were corrupted because of sin in the world. God is not obligated to save every baby from dying no more than He is preventing old people from dying. When does He draw the line? Better to let those decisions be determined by God in His ultimate foresight and knowledge. Truth is His nature is holy and He sees differently than us. He determines who has hardened His heart or who is justified like a baby having no real choice. Maybe the baby gets a pass to enter eternal life.

For those of us coherent and able to make choices, we can choose good or evil. What is the standard of that measure? It has to come from above since we all self determine our own judgment. But we are not always correct. So we have a universal standard given by God. Our conscience steers us towards it, but we don’t always see it. Therefore we fall short. That falling short is what is called SIN.

What is the remedy of sin? Some say tapping into a Universal Mind. Others say worshipping your own god. Some say determined by good works. Some say just not doing anything real evil (like killing). So which is it?

ALL these fall short. They are all over the place. God who is holy has a standard He set. yes He illustrated it through Moses. But it is also written in our conscience. We fall short of it. So does that disqualify us for eternal life? We are corrupted, so yes that is a disqualifier. What is the remedy? God offered a sacrifice so YOU can ride His merit of good works. He requires simply believing (trusting fully) in Him, following by faith, walking with an inclining to yield to His Spirit (the Holy Spirit). Then you are equipped better to heed the works that follow, while you are justified by your faith in Him. Sweet deal!
