Russian Ambassador To Turkey Assassinated In Ankara Art Gallery – Your News Wire

Russia condemns the killing of its ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov who was assassinated by a terrorist gunman in Ankara on Monday. WWI was started over an assassination.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Andrey Karlov, Russian Ambassador to Turkey, died during an armed terrorist assault while attending a photo exhibition in Ankara on Monday when a 22-year-old Islamic fanatic Turkish police officer shot and killed Karlov at an Ankara art gallery.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called this an “act of terrorism.”The perpetrator, who was wearing a suit and a tie, shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ (‘God is great’ in Arabic) during the attack. Following the shooting of Karlov, he then shouted: “Don’t forget Aleppo! Don’t forget Syria!” which ties motive to revenge for Aleppo.

In a televised address Russian President Vladimir Putin, who supports President Bashar al-Assad, said the assassination was a “provocation” aimed at undermining the “peace process” in Syria.

Turkey and Russia have backed opposite sides in the Syrian war. Russia’s air strikes were instrumental in helping Syrian forces end rebel resistance in war-torn Aleppo this month.

A NATO Spy?

According to a report, it claims the Turkish police officer who assassinated Russian ambassador Andrey Karlov was a U.S. double agent tasked with destroying relations between Russia and Turkey. The Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers were en route to Russia to find a solution to the five years old Syrian conflict for the first time without the participation of the US.

The report points out that although the mainstream media reports that the assassin, Mert Altintas, had shouted Islamist slogans in broken Arabic with a Turkish accent at the scene of the murder, therefore he must be of the Islamic State; he appeared clean-shaven in a black suit, looking more like an intelligence asset than an Islamic jihadist.
